How to display a non-editable custom field on the JSD (data center) customer portal?

Hi everyone,

I have a requirement in Jira Service Desk (JSD) data center and would appreciate some guidance.

We want to create a custom field called "Planned Sprint Date" in JSD and display it on the customer portal/request view.

Our requirement is:

  • The Sprint field should be visible to customers/users on the portal.

  • Customers should not be able to edit this field.

  • The field value will be updated automatically by a script in JSD.

  • The script will synchronize the Sprint information from Jira Software, where the actual sprint planning is maintained.

  • The purpose is to let the requester see which Sprint their ticket is planned/expected to be handled in.

The customer should be able to see this information when viewing their request, but there should be no option for them to modify it.

Is there an out-of-the-box configuration in JSD to display a custom field as read-only on the customer portal while still allowing the value to be updated by a script?

If not, is there a recommended approach using ScriptRunner, a custom field type, workflow/post-function, or another JSM feature?

We are using Jira Service Management Data Center.

Any suggestions or examples would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @Namrata Bhomkar

As you are on DC, you could look at ScriptRunner Fragments, as ootb this is not possible.

https://docs.adaptavist.com/sr4js/9.x/features/fragments

Otherwise you would need to look for other 3rd party marketplace solutions.
