Hi,

I'd like to use JSM for creating preventative maintenance (PM) issues on a trailing schedule (sometimes also called floating or shadow PMs) for facilities maintenance staff.

For example, I'd like to schedule an issue to be created on August 1st, 2023, on an every 3 month schedule. If I resolve that issue on September 3rd, 2023, for example, I'd like the next issue to be opened 3 months from that original issue being closed (so it would open on December 3rd, 2023, instead of November 1st, 2023), and continue on from there.

Is this possible? Thank you!

Hi @Jason Hu

You should be able to use Automation to do this.

It might look something like this...

  • Create the first issue manually, with a unique identifier (eg. a label)
  • Create an Automation rule which runs once a day and looks for all issues with that label
  • Check there's no open issues
  • Check the last closed issue's resolution date (if all are closed)
  • If it was 3 months ago, create a new issue

^ Let us know if you'd like assistance to create this type of rule :)
