How to auto populate fields in a routed ticket.

My intake portal is set up to create a landing/staging ticket (PATH), then it auto clones to a department or two depending on the selection. 

The landing/staging ticket (PATH) has fields that I want to auto populate into the cloned fields. They do not. 

What is the right mechanism; from current, from trigger....something else?

@Randy Everett -

You can configure an automation rule triggered on (Issue Created event) using Automation for Jira component.  Where you can conduct an "Edit issue" action in the rule to populate fields as needed.
