How do I generate personal velocity chart by custom field, not by assignee?

ha November 14, 2022

My case is:

- Developer implement task jira, it was assigned by a developer

- After that the jira is tested by Tester and the assignee is changed to tester name (I created a custom field to store developer who work on this task , name "Developer"

- When I generate personal velocity chart , it always base on assignee to generate chart --> can only display personal velocity chart on Tester name.

- I want to to generate personal velocity chart for individual Developer

Please help me to do that. Thanks

Hi there:

In Jira/JSM, velocity by default is focus on issue assignee.  I am not aware of if there are any function that would support what you are asking for.

A possible idea for you to consider is don't reassign the issue to the QA Tester, but keep your original developer as the assignee.  You can notify the QA Tester when it is ready for his/her testing via automation rule/WF customization without assigning the issue to them.  In this case, you can just use your "Developer" field to store the QA Tester user information on the issue.

Hope this makes sense.

Hi Joseph Chung Yin,

Thank you for your reply.

Actually, I already did the config on Jira to update assignee from QA tester to Developer automatically once it is verified and close.

But I still have the same issue if I want to know velocity of QA tester. how many point that one QA can verify and close per sprint.

Do you have any suggesstion to have velocity report for QA team?

Thanks,

Ha Pham.
