How can I integrate a fuel tracking tool into Jira/Confluence workflows?

Hi Atlassian Community,

I manage a small logistics team and already use Jira for tasks and Confluence for documentation. Recently, I developed a simple web-based fuel consumption calculator to monitor fuel usage on our routes.

My challenge: I want to integrate this into our Jira/Confluence workflows—perhaps as a gadget, automation, or macro—so team members can log mileage and fuel directly within our existing tools. Ideally, it would automatically calculate consumption and log outputs in issues/pages.

Has anyone attempted something like this? What’s the best approach—webhooks, REST APIs, or custom app development? I’d appreciate pointers on:

  • Recommended integration methods for small web tools

  • Which Atlassian product (Jira, Confluence, or both) is best suited

  • Experienced-based tips or sample code

Thanks in advance for any suggestions—I really want to make this seamless within our Atlassian stack!

Hello @Virnani Siran,

I suppose the simplest way is to create a User Macro for Confluence from Admin Panel.

It will not go smoothly, but at least it wouldn't require developing the whole app for that.
