How can I connect API to JIRA TEAM MANAGE?

I’m working on a project in Jira Team Managed, and I want to sync the status or comments to a Jira Service Management ticket using the API. Is this possible?

Hi @Julina Del Rosario,

Why would you want to do this via the API? What problem are you trying to solve? It would be significantly easier and more transparent through standard automation rules in Jira, which support syncing status and comments through out-of-the-box actions.

Two things that may be good to keep in mind:

  • Make sure to link your JSM and Jira project work items, as that link will help you identify which ones need to be synced.
  • Team managed projects have siloed workflows. That makes it hard (if not impossible) to use transition actions in automation where you try to apply the same transition as in a triggering work item from a different project. As a workaround, you can make the transitions explicit by explicitly naming what status your transition needs to go from and to.
