Forward ticket from one project to another

Wade Stout November 30, 2023

I have a JIRA ticket that has attachments sent to one project.  I need to have that sent to another project, attachments and all as a new ticket.  What is the best way to do that?

Hi @Wade Stout

Manually, you can move the ticket...

  • Go to the Issue's main view
  • Select the Actions menu (breadcrumbs (...) in top-right corner)
  • Select Move from the list
  • Select the new Project and follow the instructions

You can also use the keyboard shortcut whilst on an issue - press full stop (".") and search for Move.

Using Automation, it's not possible to move an issue at this point. There is a feature request you can vote for though - check out AUTO-549

The alternative is to use the following Action(s)...

  • Clone Issue - you can clone attachments from the original issue
  • Delete Issue - if you wish to remove the original. This isn't necessary though, you could leave it as-is, or transition it to Done with a Resolution of "Moved" or "Duplicate"?

Greetings.  I elected to clone the issue and have that ticket moved to another project, while keeping the original ticket with the original requestor in our project queue.  This allowed the other team to do their portion of the work.  When that was completed, I then had us respond to the originator stating that the work was performed.  This worked to keep the technical jargon out of view from the requestor.

Thanks for responding and checking in.
