Fields unlinking on Jira forms

Hi Guys,

Has anyone noticed fields getting unlinked on Jira forms without explanation?

This is like the 4th time I'm witnessing this; I create a form and months later, most of the fields gets unlinked without any changes to the form or fields.

Am I going crazy or is there an explanation for this?

Thanks.

Hi @Ismail Sanni , thanks for your post.

I have not experienced this but I would open a ticket to the service desk - https://support.atlassian.com/contact/ because it sounds pretty serious.

I just had a quick look to see if there were any audit logs on my JSM forms and I can't see anything.

I hope the service desk can help you.

Best wishes

Hi @Ismail Sanni
This may happen in Jira’s native forms under a few conditions. When a form field is linked to a Jira field, the link between them can break if:

  • The mapped Jira field was renamed, deleted, or its context changed (for example, removed from the project or issue type screen).

  • The form was copied or moved between projects with different field configurations.

  • A Jira admin adjusted global field schemes or contexts that your form depends on.

If you want to avoid that, another approach is using Smart Jira Forms(developed by our team). It stores mappings inside the form itself, so even if a field name or screen changes, your form linking stays consistent.

It might help to double-check your project’s field configurations to see if anything was adjusted around the time the unlinking started.
