Error when adding request participant in JSM

For adding a watcher using Shared With option, I am unable to add one particular user to the watchlist. I am getting error " We couldn't submit your request. Refresh the page and try again". This is happening with only one user and I am able to add all the other users via portal. I've tested it on different email domains and they do get added. I don't believe the customer I'm trying to add has a Jira account, but the idea is that the email that is submitted in the issue is invited into the portal and then the customer is able to create an account to access it, which I thought was a feature of JSM. Can someone help and let me know if i am missing something

Hi Kenny,

The user will need an Atlassian account, even if it is just a free Customer account.

Can you try after adding the customer to the customers section on the project ?

I agreed with @John Funk reply.  The customer must have valid account against Atlassian site.  Is your company using Atlassian Guard using your own IDP for users?
