Does Jira support forced TLS for email notifications?

If setup to use TLS 1.2, does Jira use forced or opportunistic TLS for email notifications?

Hi John,

I understand you are using Jira Service Management Cloud and are interested to learn if the email notifications are using a forced TLS.   While we have https://support.atlassian.com/security-and-access-policies/docs/supported-security-protocols-for-atlassian-cloud-products/ that states HTTPS traffic is always using TLS 1.2+, I found another support case that had your same question.  Someone from our mail support team did confirm that:

Yes. We only support TLS1.2+ for any email received or sent.
