We are in the process of building a bot that needs to read and update JSM tickets (Jira tickets) and currently it is being done thru web automation, but depending on traffic sometimes faults due to slow responses etc.
I would like to know if it is possible to search JSM,
example tickets after certain ticket numbers, in categories, and status' and then add comments, change status' and assign users
using the JIRA CLI?

When you mention Jira CLI, I assume we are talking about the Marketplace Plugin.
According to their documentation, it is possible to use the CLI with JSM:
