Displaying an alternative name for a managed user account

We sync our Atlassian Cloud accounts from our EntraID idp as managed accounts I have a user whose first name is William in EntraID so he appears as "William ______" in JSM. He would like his name in JSM to appear as "Bill _____", but doesn't want any changes to his user account in EntraID. In JSM, I understand that you can't change those details in a managed account.

Nonetheless, is there any way to do that?

If not, can we add this as a feature request?

Thanks,

Carey

Hi @Carey Fruitman ,

I believe if it's managed it needs to be changed from the top down as EntraID would be the source of truth for profile attributes

Hello @Carey Fruitman

If this is a managed account, I would first check where that displayed name is coming from.

If the user is provisioned from an identity provider, then the visible public name is often synced from there, so I would not look for a Jira Service Management setting for this. In that case, the cleaner way is usually to change the mapped attribute in the IdP and let it sync back to Atlassian. Atlassian documents that the public name can be synced to the organization through SCIM/user provisioning.

If the account is managed but not controlled by SCIM for that field, then I would check the managed account profile in Atlassian Administration.

Some things can be changed directly from Administrator.
