DNS verification for registering own domain

Abu Bakar Samuel Abdullah January 26, 2022

Hello Support.

I have an issue here. I have contacted my own email administrator, and found out that we don't use any DKIM and we would like to prevent adding SPF record into the dns server to prevent additional hops to our email domain.

Question here is , do we need to get all the list of dns verification checked, such as DKIM and SPF using TXT/CNAME into our DNS provider record? If there isn't any use of DKIM we will need to create One just to cater to Jira notification email? Kindly advice me on how to go on from here as i urgently need to setup my own email for my own Jira ITSM purposes.

Thanks

Samuel

Hi @Abu Bakar Samuel Abdullah

Welcome to the Community!!

For Domain Verification, I guess it's not required

If you need to send emails on behalf of your mail server, you need to validate SPF and DKIM configurations are correct

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-jira-cloud-to-send-emails-on-behalf-of-your-domain

Thanks,
Pramodh

Hello @Pramodh M ,

Thank You for the respond. If i dont need to verify my domain, would you be able to assist on how can i send and receive email using my own domain on one of the ITSM project? I have difficulty seeing any drop down list / even able to type my own domain for support email. Currently its set to default support email which is it.support@domain.atlassian.com. Appreciate your guidance.
