Customer Portal Search Function

Is there any way to change the amount of the initial results that come in from the customer portal search bar? Currently comes up with three articles and an option to show more articles. But would like more to show up initially before having to select show more articles. 

Also is there a way to make one column show up for articles and one for the requests? Currently just shows up as one big column, and sometimes the requests are cut off at the bottom.

This search is not customisable. I don't know if you will be able to achieve that. I don't know any apps which can help.
