I need to create a fixed length field for an account number and format it as xxx-xxx-xxx. I'm not seeing a way to do this when going to -> <domain>.atlassian.net/secure/admin/ConfigureFieldLayout!default.jspa. Can this be accomplished in Service Management Project?

Hi @Zach Mathis and welcome to the community,

Not per se, and not out of the box. In Jira you get a certain types of custom fields, and a fixed length text field is not one of them. In order to achieve that you can either:

  • Search for an app (quickest solution perhaps) OR
  • Create a text field
    • Add a transition with a transition screen in which the users must fill in that field
    • Add a validator on that transition to check:
      • The field's length
      • The format of the field

The second solution is feasible if you are using an app such as JMWE which allows the use of nunjucks.
