Custom Field Type changed and I can't change it back

Patrick Till

I have a custom field that the users used to be able to edit.
It has user captured data in it.

Sometime in the last month or two the field has become read only and I can't change it back.

"Text field" and "Text field (read only)" are different "types" of field and there's no way to change between them.  (without database hacking, which you cannot do in Cloud).  if it looks like it has changed, then someone has added a new field and removed the old one, or renamed existing fields to make it look like that.

You'll need to ask your admins what they've done and how to get it changed back.  You should be able to find out who did it from the admin audit log.
