Good Morning,
I wanted to verify that this capability exists.
What I'm trying to do is adjust the configuration of a Request type so that if someone opens a specific request type, it gets assigned to a different project. Can someone please provide me with the correct documentation to make this change?
Thanks so much!
It cannot work this way.
A request is part of a portal. A portal belongs to a single project (a 1:1 relationshio). So any request you raise in a portal has to belong to that portal, which, in turn, means the issue behind the request must belong to the project that provides the portal.
Is it easy enough to create a self service portal for the project in question and then just copy of the request type to that portal?

Yes, then you'll need to get your people to use the new portal if they wish to raise that type of request.

Hi @Matt Sardi
Within a specific portal the request types are mapped to an issue type of a single project in Jira. In JSM you can however create multiple projects and each of them will get a separate portal. All portals are listed under help centre.
I hope it helps.

Thank you for confirming. I suspected that this was likely the case. So, if I understand correctly, it sounds like what I need to do is create another instance of an issue type (service request, for example) and then configure that instance to generate the respective tasks/workflow that I require?
