Conditional Custom Fields

Hello,

I would like to create conditional Custom Fields. For example, if the user picks "Jira" drop down from the Custom Field called "Application" , a conditional custom field called "which product" will pop up and it will have other drop down items such as JSM, JWM, Software etc.  If the user does not pick Jira Application, the custom field "which product" will not pop up.

Is it possible to have this option on the portal? Or anything similar to this.  If so how to do it? Thank you.

Hi @Elif Alverson - Natively, this is a little complex with just standard licensing (You'd be able to leverage Assets/Asset Custom Field with JSM Premium licensing which would cover this scenario the easiest).  With standard, you have a couple options:

  1. Create a custom cascade select field - This would give you the ability to allow a first selection with a cascading child based upon what was selected on the parent.  A couple caveats...
    1. You can enforce a parent selection, but not the child
    2. It appears as a single field rather than two so you'd need to include a bit of help text to help the user
  2. Use a custom form - Under Project Settings >> Forms, this would allow for customizing the experience where you can incorporate conditional sections based upon what the user selects.  Caveats...
    1. This can get complex to configure depending upon how many options you have.
    2. If you want the selected options to be reportable, you would need to link each form field to a backend Jira field
