I'm currently reviewing and updating our employee onboarding process in Jira Service Management. Our existing onboarding form has become somewhat unwieldy and requires regular modifications as our requirements change.
Today, a submitted onboarding request automatically creates a parent service request and individual subtasks for the various IT teams involved in the onboarding process.
I'd be interested in hearing how other organizations manage onboarding in JSM. What does your workflow look like, and are there any tools, automations, or best practices you'd recommend to improve scalability and reduce ongoing maintenance?
@Malee -
The key to the process is having a solid automation rules setup (i.e. specially creating child issues based on the parent issues). Furthermore, having the rule setup where a parent issue movement to close status only when all the child issues are done/closed.
Any manual movement of the parent issue to the closed status can only be done by a selected group of authorized users.
If the above policy and setup are in place and adapted by your team, then you have a simpler process to manage/maintain.
Hope this helps.
Best, Joseph
