You'll need to provide the external company's users with licenses, have you done this?
Once they have a Jira license, you can then provide them a link to the Project.
If you're also looking to limit their access though to just one Project, you'll need to upgrade to a paid plan (if you're using a Free instance, like your question details state).
Once on a paid plan, you can then limit Project access using Project Permissions:
