Changing the issue status for multiple issues once

Hi Jira community,

I have around 100 Jira issues where status are initially  as "Waiting for Support".

Is there a way (automated or via the Jira interface) where I can change the status of these 100 records at once?

Thank you.

Hi Alison,

  • Run a search for the issues you want to update.
  • Select "bulk edit" from the tools menu (... near the top right)
  • Select "transition issues" when it asks what you want to do

A few notes:

The search does not have to be 100% correct, the process lists all the issues it finds and allows you to deselect any that you change your mind about.

I usually get an export of the search before committing anything, saves mucking around in the issue history if I make a mistake.

"Bulk edit" is protected by permissions.  You may need to get your admin to give you the global permission to use it.

You also need to have the permission to transition the issues,on top of having a workflow that has a transition from one status to another (Status is not really a field you can edit, it's a display of where an issue is in the workflow)
