Changing Request Type Prompts To Move Issue

Andrew_Muir

Hello,

Haven't found any relevant information on this issue yet so I figured I'd post my first question to the community.

When our team categorizes issues in Jira Service Desk projects, some projects immediately change the request type, displaying a nice and quick toast notification in the corner.  This is great and how we want all of our projects to function.

Now, for some reason, certain projects prompt us to go through this long process as partially shown below

I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on what exactly is different here?  We're not trying to migrate the issue to a different project, so I don't understand why we're being prompted to "Move Issue".

Any help is much appreciated in advance.  Let me know if you need any further information.

Request types are associated with issue types. I suspect what is happening here is your attempting to change the request type to one that is not associated with the current issuetype. So if you want to change the request type you need to move the issue to the the new Issuetype.
