Can you have multiple approval steps in one workflow for service desk jira

We have a service desk workflow now in Jira with one approval step.  We want to add a preapproval step to validate if the request is valid before with a different group of approvers.  Is this possible in Jira?

Yes, you can add multiple approval statuses if needed, I have multiple workflows that have two or more approval statuses.
