Can we verify a custom field value before closing the story/issue?

I have created a single select custom field for my project. It's a mandatory field and needs to be updated with specific set of selection only.

I have configured it on the Resolve Issue Screen, so everyone needs to update it.

However, currently it doesn't matter which value you select from the drop down.

Is there a way to mandate the user to select a certain set of selection only.

For example, i have 5 values (A,B,C,D,E) in the drop down and a story can only be closed if the user select either option D or E before marking the story as done.

Any suggestions?

So i have found the solution for this.

Edit the workflow and add a validator in the Done Transition

Select the 'Regular Expression Check' validator and provide the regular expression as D|E.

For example, we need the final values for a custom field to be either 'Completed' or 'Done', add the regular expression as Completed|Done

This works...I have tried and tested.
