Can't update a project key when not in use

Hello,

I am trying to update a VCAPI project key to VCA and I have an error message: "Another project uses this project key.". No project uses this key on our Jira and after checking the database, this key is not used either.

We have reindexed this weekend all the environment and no problems have been reported.

Can you help me on this topic?

welcome to the community.

A project must have change his project key but Jira keep the old key and you can't reuse it. It seems that you are in this scenario.

The only solution is to delete the project to release the old key

Neither the project nor the key is existing in our instance, still we are getting same error. Any fix for this?
