Hello,
I enabled issue security levels for a Jira Service Management project. In this project, there are several workflow statuses that require approvals. The approvers are not always Jira Service Management licensed users.
In the issue security scheme, I added a rule based on a custom field value (the “Approvers” field used in each approval status).
My question is: will approvers without a JSM license be able to view the tickets they need to approve when added through this security level?
Thanks in advance!
Approves of a JSM ticket, are not required to have a JSM license, they receive an email and can act from the email or approve via the portal.
Issue security is not needed in relation to approvals
Thanks for your reply. I understand that issue security is not required for the approval process itself. However, in my case, I applied issue security because the tickets contain confidential information.
My concern is whether this restriction might also prevent approvers (who are not licensed Jira users and only approve via the portal or email) from being able to view the tickets they need to approve.
Could you confirm if adding approvers through the issue security level will still allow them to see and approve the ticket even without a Jira license?
Thanks in advance.

No this will no prevent the approvers to see the issue, if these approvers are part of the issue security level set on the issue they need to approve.
