Can a ticket's priority changing/transitioning be logged for reporting?

When exporting ticket data for reporting, a ticket that was raised as a P4 but moved up to a P1 will be logged as a P4, meaning that it will show as 1 less P1 ticket for the month - which obviously makes reporting a lot less accurate. 

Have tried the 'status transition' field for Jira extraction to excel but it doesn't log priority change.
