Hi there!
We're using the Assets feature of Jira and have created different object schemas with a range of objects. Most of them are hardware devices that undergo a series of events (QA, shipment, return, repair, etc.).
We're looking for a way to keep track of these different events by linking them to the individual objects. This should also allow us to create regular reports that show how many of the different events occurred during the last period.
Adding Attributes or Activities to the objects does not seem to be the right fit for this. Any ideas?
We're using Jira on Cloud on the Standard plan, but on the free trial period of the Premium plan where Assets is available.
Thanks in advance!
You can use Statuses in your Object Schema to create statuses for each life cycle state of your assets. What is a status?
Hi @Dave Mathijs , thanks for your quick response!
If we use Statuses to track these events, is it possible to add additional information (e.g. who was responsible for the QA, what was repaired, etc.) or do they only get tracked by date on the "Activity" feed?
Thanks!

You cannot track additional information in a status, but you can always add a Comment on the Activity tab of the object itself.

Ok, but that means that there's no way of automatically reporting on all of these events on a monthly / quarterly base, correct?

No, reporting is quite limited (to say non-existing) in Assets yet.
Alternatively - but that would be duplicate work in my opinion - you could create a Jira project where each issue represents a hardware asset that corresponds to the object. Then create a workflow that represents the statuses and report on the statuses during a period.
