Assistance Required: Global Time Tracking Option Not Available in JIRA

jayaprakasha Reddy B June 14, 2025

Hi Team,

I hope you're doing well.

I am currently unable to find the Global Time Tracking option in my JIRA settings, which is preventing me from effectively tracking my developers' working hours against the estimated/set hours.

This feature is crucial for our daily tracking and reporting needs, and I would appreciate your urgent support in enabling or guiding me on how to access it.

Looking forward to your assistance.

Hello @jayaprakasha Reddy B

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

In addition to what the others have said, in order for a user to see the "Log Work" option for an issue they must have the "Work On Issues" permissions in the permissions configuration for the project.

Hi @jayaprakasha Reddy B

The time tracking in Jira is a Project Configuration. It could be able in a project permission.

There is not a Global Configuration to enable or disable it.

In Settings -> Work items -> Time Tracking you can configure a few parameters as the time format, the workdays and the copy the comment to worklog.

Best Regards.

Hi @jayaprakasha Reddy B ,

We have the Log Work option available in JSM:

If you want to track the time logged by your users, you can export the tickets to csv or using the Jira Cloud in Excel plugin to get the results in an excel file to get the Time logged instances.

If you have some other reference of what you mean by Global Time Tracking that you may have seen somewhere please share that too.
