Assignable User another list

How do you think, is it possible to change the list of assignable users for one project?
For example, one list is available in one status, and another in another?

Hi,

I think one way could be to put your user list in a customfield, and use this customfield in your permission scheme. But you will need to overwrite the list manually in each status or with a script.
