Asset tags

In the past, I used Reftab as my asset manager in JSM. With the organization I am with now, I am implementing JSM and am currently setting up the JSM Assets feature, which is ok, at best. The issue I am running into is the horrible Asset tag process. I have to print the QR to PDF then figure out how to create an asset tag with the QR and minor details about the asset.

My question is: IF you are using the JSM Asset manager, how are you handling this process? There has to be a better way. Atlassian should know better than to put out a module like this without making it fully functional.

Hi @Chad Henderson

You could also look into Assets discovery, to auto check and even update in formation in your assets schema.

Or in relation to this to the Datamanger option in Asset.

These or one of the options could help to auto track assets.

Just started working on this in the last month. Best way so far for us is:

  • Using an iPad (iOS 15 or higher per the App needed)
  • Brother BT710 QR label printer
  • Eyoyo 2D Bluetooth Barcode Scanner (for both barcode and QR code scanning)

  • Brother iPrint&Label app

Open Assets in a browser on the iPad

Copy the Asset Link from the browser (Not the QR code)

Create 'New' Label, tap in the label, select 'Bar Code', then 'QR code'.

Tap and hold in blank white space on the QR code pop up window and paste the link. Then Print.

We are just testing but this is the easiest I could come up with to allow our desktop team to be portable without needing to carry their heavier laptop.

Would love to hear if others have a better way.

Good Luck!
