Hi There,
We have more then 500 Application Codes "App Code", when raise the change, change requestor will use the related "app code" to associate with the change. And currently, the "app code" is only store in the excel sheet and the change requestor need to input the "app code" when raise the change. I was told that JSM has the limitation (or JSM can't has the DB) to store such "App Code".
May I ask if anyone have such experience or can give some advice how can JSM create such "App Code" database? Thank you.
Regards

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
For me it is not clear what exactly you need. Do you want Jira to generate to store the codes somewhere, or to generate them automatically?
How does these codes look like and when do you use them?
If you have a list of already predefined / existing codes, you could just create a custom field in Jira of type single select list with all these codes added as options (items in list), so the change requestor can select it when the issue is created.

Hi Danut, thanks for the reply.
Yes how JSM can store those codes? our code is simple, e.g. DEF represent a particular application. VTX represent another application.
Currently the change requestor just input the code manually, and JSM is not able to create the CMDB for those application code? so the requestor can just easily select from the code list rather then input the code manually. Hope this is more clear and hope someone can clarify. Thanks.

Hi @Samuel Sye,
Thanks for clarification.
My advice is to create a custom field in Jira of type Select List with the existing codes added as options.
And when a new code comes into the picture (a new app is added), the Jira admin can manually enter that code in the field configration.
Once this field is added, you can make it a required field in the JSM portal, so the requestor can select the app code from the list with predefined values when creating the request.
Danut.
