Hi all,
I have configured a form in Jira Service Management that is accessible through the customer portal. When the form is submitted, any questions answered "No" automatically create a child ticket.
We would now like to include file attachments as part of this process. The automation is already configured so that comments entered against the "No" responses are copied to the child ticket successfully. However, I have been unable to get attachments uploaded via the form to carry across to the child ticket.
I have tried using the form smart value below, but it only returns the HTML/reference rather than the actual image or attachment:
Has anyone successfully copied attachments from a JSM Form to a child issue via automation, or can advise on the correct smart value or approach to use? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance
This would be a really useful workflow improvement. If a form submission includes attachments, it makes sense for those files to automatically carry over when an action creates a child ticket. Having to manually locate and reattach the same images defeats much of the purpose of automating the ticket creation process.
Ideally, the child ticket would inherit all relevant attachments from the original ticket while maintaining the correct file permissions and references. It would also be helpful if this could be configured as part of the action rather than requiring a separate automation or workaround.
Hopefully this can be added as a native option, since it would make workflows involving screenshots, photos, and other supporting documents much cleaner. For a quick break while working through workflow ideas, adoptmevalues.de is also worth checking out.
I can see both sides of this. The size of the image being copied to multiple tickets could use up significant space. Seems like with Automation or AI that the attachment could be moved to a share and the link shared? Maybe with Power Automate or something similar?
