Hi everyone,

I need to be able to add virtual developers on specific dates as part of our recruitment process which impacts the delivery timeline.

How can I add a virtual developer on a specific date?

Thanks,
Itamar

Hi @Itamar Zabari,

If your question is about Advanced Roadmaps, your question refers to a time when capacity was managed by explicitly adding individuals to your team. That was the case in the Live plans, version, which has been replaced by a new planning interface.

Capacity is no longer managed on an individual basis, but at team level. Both for scrum and kanban teams you can manage your team capacity by iteration. You'll need to enable capacity planning in your plan first, but will then be able to indicate realistic availabilities for your team from your timeline.

Have a look at this starting page on Managing Capacity with Advanced Roadmaps. It has links to several articles that will help you solve your problem:

and more.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Itamar Zabari ,

please help me understand the concept of a “virtual developer”. Moreover is this person going to be a watcher of an issue or assigned the issue or just a custom text field.

Previously in Advanced road maps, it was a user, that is visible only in Advanced road maps, it wasn't visible in JIRA. I didn't need to create an account using an email address.

Those users were assigned tickets.

If JIRA does not support it, is there a plug-in you know of that can help us with this issue?

A few things …

  • Your post is in JSM. Only licensed agents (users) can be assigned issues. Similarly, for JSW only licensed users can be assigned issues.
  • You can consider a text field to capture a name but not a user picker since that field type is associated with licensed users.
  • I am unsure of any app that allows you to create/manage/select non-licensed individuals.
