Since launching Assets Data Manager, we’ve received a lot of feedback from our community. While the power of the tool is undeniable, many of you have been honest: the admin journey has been hard to navigate. We’ve heard your stories of complex setups and technical hurdles, and we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to change that.
Today, we are thrilled to introduce The New Admin Journey—a front-end rewrite for admin’s designed specifically to make setting up and managing your data sources easier, faster, and more intuitive.
This isn’t just a fresh coat of paint. We’ve migrated the admin experience to the Atlassian Design System (ADS), meaning it now looks, feels, and acts like the Atlassian products you already use. This update brings:
Improved Accessibility & Localization: For the first time, the admin journey supports global standards for accessibility and multi-language support.
Streamlined Navigation: We’ve cut through the noise. Settings have moved from the main sidebar to contextual menus (the "..." icon) where you actually need them.
Integrated Data Sources: We’ve moved away from the "Adapters App" model. Now, you can add and configure data sources directly within your Object Classes.
Clearer Call-to-Actions: Whether it’s fetching new data or running a merge, the system guides you through the next logical step with clear labels.
Hardware asset management just got a lot stronger. As part of our ongoing partnership with Flexera, we are launching the new Flexera IT Visibility adapter. This allows you to seamlessly pull hardware device data directly into Assets Data Manager, helping you maintain a "single source of truth" for all your hardware assets without the manual heavy lifting.
For more information about the Flexera IT Visibility adapter, please refer to our support.atlassian.com documentation.
To make the tool easier to understand, we’ve updated several key terms to be more descriptive of what they actually do. Here’s a quick cheat sheet:

We are finalizing the rollout for early July 2026. This new experience is designed to guide you from "getting started" to "fully optimized" with far less friction.
We can't wait for you to try it out and tell us what you think. Thank you for your continued feedback—it’s what helps us build a better JSM for everyone.
Here’s some screen shows of what it will look like with some of the key changes.
Simplified navigation, with Data Manager only having 3 options of Getting started, Object classes and Data visualization.
The Data Manager and Adapters app’s have also been bought into the one experience.
Data visualization will launch your Dashboards.
Data sources are added from the Object class.
Please note that administrators still need to have the Adapters Admin role in order to run the Adapters client.
New object classes (without objects) have a clear Add data source CTA
Where objects exists, + Add is available in the top right.
Adding or editing Transform functions, mapping or cleansing rules is now performed from the Data source configuration page, leading you through the process.
Launched from the > at the end of the data source line
Saved searches and Tags have moved to be separate tabs on the object class view screen.
Settings on the ellipse … relevant to the whole feature
Settings on the ellipse … that are object class specific
For each data source connection created, you can see the Raw, Transformed and Cleansed data from the Data tab.
And simple filtering has been added. Once filtered, the number of records showing will be adjusted with the “of 9,999” providing the number that meet your criteria.
Export remains available from the View objects screen, but now a little icon on the top right, rather than a large button.
Data Manager it will notify you when the export is in progress and complete. You can choose to download the file; which is then created in your Downloads folder on your device.
