[Get Early Access] 📊 Improved JSM Analytics for custom analytics needs

Hey everyone!

We are inviting a select group of Premium and Enterprise customers to shape the future of analytics in JSM. We understand customers often face data-analysis challenges such as:

  • How do I combine Assets <> Work Item data for analysis?

    • For example: how many incidents affected each service (stored as an assets object) in the last 90 days?

  • How can I create custom calculations for charts?

    • For example: what is our average change-implementation lag, calculated as actual end date minus planned end date?

  • How do I report on multiple asset schemas in a single chart?

    • For example: how many laptops assigned to employees in Seattle need refreshing this quarter?

Until now, answering them meant wrestling with SQL, rigid out-of-the-box dashboards, or exporting data to another tool.

Custom Models and Metrics changes that. Customers can now build their own data models and metrics directly in JSM Analytics tailored to how your organisation actually works and reuse them everywhere.

What you get in the Early Access Program?

  • 📊 Self-service for your team: Define custom models and metrics relevant for your business through a simple, guided flow with no SQL required.

  • 🧩 Custom data models: Join and analyse data across Assets, Work Items, Changes, Requests and Incidents — a flexible semantic layer beyond what standard out-of-the-box dashboards offer.

  • ♻️ Define once, reuse across multiple surfaces: Build a reusable metric a single time — choose an aggregation, attribute, filters and default visualization — then drop it into any surface: Space Summary, Asset, and (upcoming) Operations dashboards.

  • 🔐 Governed and secure: Control who can view, edit, and use each model with the permission patterns you already trust across Atlassian.

  • 🗣️ Direct line to the product team: Your feedback directly shapes what ships at General Availability.

Who it's for?

Premium and Enterprise JSM customers whose business users need flexible, fast, self-service reporting across JSM data such as Assets, Work Items, Changes without depending on technical specialists. To get the most out of the Early Access Program, we're looking for customers who:

  • Are on a Premium or Enterprise edition of Jira Service Management.

  • Are willing to engage with us for sharing regular feedback on the experience to help shape what ships at General Availability.

  • Preferably use Assets in Jira Service Management as Assets-based data models and metrics are a key focus of the early experience.

Not yet supported in Early Access: Customers with advanced compliance requirements such as FedRAMP, HIPAA and BYOK encryption.

How to Join (takes 2 mins)?:

Step 1: Sign up for the EAP using this form

Step 2: We will get in touch with you to enable the EAP around mid-July.

Thank you for helping in shape the Custom Models and Metrics feature!

Interesting stuff! Does this mean that Analytics will slowly come to the Premium plan as well? 🙃

@Tomislav Tobijas  For the EAP, Premium edition customers will be able to go to Analytics app to access models and metrics. Other features of Analytics app (such as SQL powered charts) will still only be available to customers that have an enterprise edition
