×I would like to follow up on a suggestion that I previously shared to the product team in my comment on a JPD community post.
Basically, the ask is to add a 'JPD Views Template Gallery' to Jira Product Discovery (JPD), similar to the description templates for pre-filling the description of new ideas.
This feature would enable both the JPD team and the JPD community (users) to share their customized views in JPD, similar to files in Figma's Community that other users can duplicate and remix.
The goal is to allow others to use these pre-configured views as templates, thereby saving time during the creation of similar views. These templates would already have fields, filters, sorting preferences, and grouping configurations in place. This eliminates the need to start from scratch when setting up new views (that already have what you need) and you're not really sure how best to configure the view.
For example, some of the views shown in the screenshot below (from Tanguy's demo video) - such as Product Sync, Launched, Feedback Areas, Integrations, Market Players, User quotes, & Bookmarks - may be of interest for other JPD users (like myself) to use.
It would be great if views like these were available in some 'JPD Views Template Gallery' where I can simply 'Use as Template' or 'Copy' its view configuration (fields, filters, grouped by, etc) to my own JPD project, and adjust them as needed from there.
This functionality is similar to @Ahmed Salem's suggestion for JPD project templates: Ability to reuse custom fields, views and create project templates. This would be a valuable addition to enhance the efficiency and collaboration within the JPD community.
Sounds great! Especially if you have multiple JPD projects on one site and a colleague wants to copy a view they found to be useful in my project.
Field mapping as well es defining usage and editing permissions may be the greatest challenges here.
For the JPD Views Template Gallery, I'm envisioning something similar to the following:
Atlassian seems to already have a paradigm for Templates, so it makes sense to add it to JPD, but I think any approach/UI/UX would work as long as it supports the ability to:
@Hermance NDounga - any update on this 'JPD Views Template Gallery' idea?
Hi @Amina Bouabdallah @Hermance NDounga - wondering if any of you can share any updates on this 'JPD Views Template Gallery' idea?
Is this something being considered at all? If so, roughly when would we see any updates on this, so that I know when to revisit this?
Adding my interest in this as well. I just watched a few tutorials by Edmund (Senior PM at BitBucket; see example here) talking about "The Atlassian Way" status mapping and how the prioritization formula they're using works. It's brilliant, and would be so helpful for newer PMs like myself to get acquainted with industry best practices, provided by the standard bearer themselves -- Atlassian. Would be lovely to get these or an idea if that's coming anytime soon. Thanks!
@Tanguy Crusson - any update on this idea for a JPD View Template Gallery? At a minimum, we would love to see the JPD team's latest views and how each of them are configured! For example, the Improvements view.
@Hermance NDounga @Tanguy Crusson – could you please share how each of these views (e.g. Boulders, Rocks, Pebbles, Requests - features, Requests - improvements, Integrations, Customers) are configured so others in the JPD community could replicate them? Like the fields, filters, etc. per view.
The Prioritization section in the JPD Handbook talks about these concepts but it would be very helpful to see how to actually build these views in JPD to put them into practice. Thanks!
Hi David! We have released a new feature, pre-built views, where you can find example frameworks from the handbook. https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Jira-Product-Discovery-articles/Introducing-Pre-built-views-in-Jira-Product-Discovery/ba-p/3095000
We also plan to convert the JPD handbook into a space template!
Keen to hear what you think about pre-built views. I'd love to jump on a call to hear your feedback as we will iterate on the current solution and create more templates
Cheers,
Jet
@Jet – this is good news, thanks for sharing this update! Sounds like a good to start to the JPD view template gallery ideaI shared back in 2023.
Happy to hop on a call to give you more feedback & discuss further. Let me know how to reach out to you to schedule something...
Also, in the meantime, would you please be able to find out how these JPD views shown in my earlier screenshot (Boulders, Rocks, Pebbles, Requests - features, Requests - improvements, Integrations, Customers) are configured (which fields and filters are applied for each of these views)? I have teams eagerly looking to try these out.
