View Google Drive Attachment on Mobile App

Manu Khanna August 28, 2018

We use the Google Drive integration with Jira to attach files directly from Google Drive. The file continues to live in Google Drive, but the preview of the file (if it is an image) shows up within the desktop version of Jira - like when you load the website on your computer. However, on the iOS app we're not able to see these Google Drive attachments within the bug. Is there a way to enable this on the mobile app?

Hi Manu,

I've tested using IOS 11.4.1 and the attachments from Google Drive shows and opens correctly.
Does it show any error when you see the ticket or try to open the image?
Can you please check if the IOS and Jira app is updated to the latest version?
Is there any other user facing the same issue?
If possible, send us a screenshot of the issue.

Regards,
Angélica

Hi Angelica,

Could you show me where you see the Google Drive attachment on the mobile app?

I checked, and yes I'm on iOS 11.4.1 as well as using the latest Jira app available on the App Store. Here is a screenshot of an issue that on desktop shows the Google Drive attachment but doesn't show on the phone (I had to split into two so it showed the full screen):

Hi Manu,

Sure, this is the screenshot of the test I made, it shows the field "Attachments" and I can expand to see the file:

Can you please test attaching a file directly from your mobile and check if the attachments field will appear?

Angélica

So, here is a screenshot of how that issue appears on the desktop: https://photos.app.goo.gl/P2z6z2DEDFSMfSE98

You can see a clear section for Google Drive Attachments on the web.

To be clear: I'm not referring to attaching an actual file and then looking for it on the mobile app. I'm talking about linking a Google Drive attachment (one where if you click on it, a new tab opens in Google Drive directly opening that attachment within Google Drive itself) as shown in the screenshot above.

On the mobile app how do I attach a file directly from Google Drive? It only appears to give me the option of uploading a file directly from my device to the Jira instance: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Ks9DJuTrW2gNgeer8

Hi Manu,

Thank you for the information and screenshots.
I can see that you are using an add-on to attach the files and I believe that this add-on was not made to work on mobile.
The one I tested is Jira's own feature to add files from Google Drive and it shows correctly on mobile (IOS and Android) when attaching from the web.
When using an Android mobile, I have the option to attach files directly from my Google Drive, but this functionality is restricted due to the OS. When using Ios it shows only iCloud.
I searched but there is no feature request for that since it's restricted to the OS.
You can attach files directly from Google Drive using Jira in the web by clicking on ... > Attach files > Google Drive.

Angélica
