Hello everyone,
I am trying to use the Epic Link as the trigger for an automation rule that whenever a new ticket is created and has a specific Epic Link it will automatically create a clone ticket to another project backlog.
In the Issue fields condition, it doesn't exist and I haven't managed to find a way how to use the Epic Link as a trigger.
I have already made Epic Link mandatory to be filled when you create a new issue so it will be a perfect trigger for what I want to do.
Any help will be appreciated!
Hi @Nikolaos Vlachos , can you not simply use "issue created" as the Trigger and use Epic link as the JQL condition "epic link" = xxxx?
Hi @Jack Brickey my bad I am already using "issue created" as the Trigger I am struggling with the condition and finding Epic Link, The only option is Epic Name but I am unable to add that to my tickets as it is Locked from JIRA.

Also consider that Issue created trigger will not catch modifications to Epic link so you may need second rule depending on your requirements.

Is there a way to use multiple Epic Links in the JQL condition?

You can use the Epic key as reference or epic name.

Yes, and...to the solution Jack provided:
The epic link field is being sunset, with all such relationships being replaced with the parent field. Please consider this for your rule, which could be modified such that...
One more thing: what do you expect to happen when the "Epic Link" changes during an issue edit?
Kind regards,
Bill

Hi @Bill Sheboy
When they are editing the issue we don't necessary expect anything to happen on the clones issue as it will already have the serve it purpose it also has been highlighted to only update the trigger issue but in case they ask in the future to have another automation for when an issue is updated.
Kind Regards
Nikos
