What happens to current Atlassian users if I enable G Suite Integration?

What happens to current Atlassian users if I enable G Suite Integration?

I currently have 35 Users in Atlassian where the users login with their company email. We are subscribers to G Suite. If I now enable G Suite for Atlassian will it create an additional 35 users or will it know to merge with the already created 35 accounts?

Anyone who has a matching email address will be merged.
