There looks to have been a recent rollout for Atlassian service accounts: https://support.atlassian.com/user-management/docs/understand-service-accounts/

Does anyone know if there are plans to allow these new Atlassian service accounts to be actors for automation rules? This would be a great workaround for Confluence automation where you cannot set the actor to Automation for Jira.

How do you guys see yourself using these?

Hi Danielle,

As it's very fresh, I don't think Atlassian will be able to provide clarity on that just yet. However, you can keep track of new feature requests about Service Accounts here:

https://jira.atlassian.com/issues/?jql=project%20%3D%20AX%20AND%20text%20~%20%22service%20account%22%20ORDER%20BY%20created%20DESC%2C%20priority%20DESC%2C%20updated%20DESC

As Community Champions, we also have a internal Slack environment where a few of us already shared the same idea. There is a lot of potential, for instance the ability to change avatars of these service accounts to make them more recognizable for end users (instead of 'Automation for Jira' or similar).

You should at least use the 'Give feedback' option in the ?-menu button in the top right in Confluence to make the Atlassian product teams better aware of your use case. If you have a paid subscription, you could also reach out to Atlassian Support (https://support.atlassian.com/contact) to see if there is any information to share, or if they can raise a feature request on your behalf, which I would gladly add my vote on!
