Hello,
My Bitbucket account is registered with an old email address.
I no longer have access to that email account because it's deleted. Now when I try to sign in, Bitbucket sends a verification code to the old address.
Could you please help me update the account to my new email address?
This is a personal account, and I am the only user.
I can prove ownership of the repositories if needed (for example, by providing repository URLs, SSH keys, or commit history).
Hi @PCode ,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I understand that you’re experiencing difficulty accessing Bitbucket because the email address you originally used to register is no longer active.
Please note that having access to the original account is mandatory in order to access the Bitbucket repository.
For security reasons, we are unable to verify your identity without access to the original email account. This policy is in place to safeguard our customers’ data.
In case, If your previous Bitbucket account was managed by your former organization, I recommend contacting their IT administrators, as they may be able to help you regain access.
If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please let us know.
Kind regards,
Rishabh

Thank you for your response.
I would like to clarify that the previous Bitbucket account was managed solely by me, and it was also my personal account. The email address associated with the account was from my former company, and I was the owner of that company. The company has been dissolved, the domain has been decommissioned, and all related services, including email, have been discontinued.
Is there any way for me to regain access to my account? For example, could I provide an SSH key that was also associated with the account to prove my identity?
Thank you for your help.

Hi @PCode ,
I understand that the Bitbucket account was originally created using a business email address, which you were using for personal purposes. I also understand that you are now unable to access the Bitbucket account because the email account no longer exists.
However, for security reasons, we are unable to assist you in gaining access to Bitbucket without verifying your identity through the associated email address. This policy is in place to protect our users—if someone else were to claim ownership of Bitbucket account without access to the original email or credentials, we would have no way to confirm their identity.
If possible, you might try recovering the domain and setting up the email address again. This would allow you to access Bitbucket.
I hope this clarifies the situation. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards,
Rishabh
