How to attain inner peace (delete my account)

Alexander Warren

Hello,

I've never used Atlassian or Loom (WTH is Loom?) but just got an email asking for billing details. Naturally upon seeing this I think, and I quote, "WTF", proceeding to login for the purposes of deleting the account. Seems like a straight forward operation, settings -> account -> delete account -> yes Im sure. But apparently I cannot do this as my "User is last billing admin of a transaction account that has one or more active entitlements" and "User is last billing admin of a transaction account that has one or more non-cancelled subscriptions". Which entitlements? No idea, and no worries as I enjoy a good easter egg hunt! Non-cancelled subscriptions? Alright no problems, just find subscriptions -> delete/unsubscribe, easy peasy. My Loom account (WTF is Loom?) is unsubscribed/deactivated. I cannot see anything else that I "own" or have to deal with and so back to the "delete account" button. AND STILL - "User is last billing admin of a transaction account that has one or more non-cancelled subscriptions". At this point Im slowing pulling out my fingernails in order to feel something other than insurmountable rage. So here I am wondering if Ive missed something or underestimated the act of closing an account (perhaps the other sites were just a fluke!).

TLDR; Can someone please help me close my Atlassian account (no seriously WTF is Loom?)

Apologies for the rant, genuinely

Oh and btw, typing into the middle of the Question bar moves my cursor to the end upon realising that no other posts match the title 'How to attain inner peace', thus disrupting my typing and resulting in an original post name of 'How to a (delete my account)ttain inner peace'

Cheers

Hi @Alexander Warren ,

First of all, I have to admit your description of the account deletion process genuinely made my day. The “WTF is Loom?” progression combined with “How to attain inner peace” was honestly one of the more entertaining Community posts I’ve seen in a while. Sad to see you go now

But let me try to help.

If you go to:
https://admin.atlassian.com/billing

…you should see the billing accounts associated with your Atlassian account (I suspect there is probably only one).

From there:

  1. Click Manage on the billing account
  2. Open the active subscription
  3. On the subscription details page, click the three dots (...) in the upper-right corner
  4. Select Deactivate
  5. Follow the deactivation steps

After all active subscriptions and entitlements are removed/deactivated, you should then be able to delete your Atlassian account normally.

There is a decent chance that Loom created or attached a billing/subscription entity automatically at some point, which is why the account deletion is currently blocked even though you were not actively using anything.

If this answer solved your problem, please mark it as the accepted answer so others with similar problems can find this absolutely hilarious post faster 😄

Hi @Kevin Kadakas

First of all, thank you for your time.

Second of all, I wrote an entire saga about my continued struggles to abandon this sterile purgatory, but I fat fingered ctrl w, please forgive my 'normal' voice.

I followed your advice which didnt work as there arent even any subscriptions to see. There is however inactive subscriptions so I reactivated loom (WTH is loom?) and tried cancelling it again. Deactivating loom again tells me that they will delete my loom data in 60 days. I suspect that only after 60 days can my atlassian account be deleted (WTH is atlassian?). The deactivation warning did also give me a link to permanently delete my data. Clicking it seems promising as it sends me an email, and we all love emails, especially those whose contents is a single link. I click the link thinking that perhaps this is what I was missing all along. Unfortunately, this link links to the account settings, specifically the webpage where I can delete my account, you know, because I can do that (sarcasm).

In summary, it appears my account will remain for the next 60 days. If you or anyone else has any other suggestions for leaving this god forsaken place, please do tell. I will give an update in 60 days. no seriously WTF is loom?

On a final and serious note for no one in particular, please dont make your websites so confusing to use. Please dont make it almost impossible to leave or delete an account in a timely manner. Deleting an account should cancel subscriptions, the subscriptions should not take preference over deleting the account.

Adios
