Change Account Email Address

I need to update the email addresses for some of my accounts. Could you let me know how to do that?

Since I have quite a few accounts, could you also check if there is a way to update them in bulk?

Welcome to the Atlassian community!

If you manage your accounts through admin.atlassian.com, an org admin can update email addresses directly under User management > Users by selecting the user and editing their profile. However, this only works for managed accounts where your domain is verified and that are not provisioned through an IAM system like Okta or Azure AD.

If the accounts are personal (unmanaged), each user has to change their own email under account.atlassian.com > Profile and visibility > Email address. You would need to log in to each account separately. Please make sure the email is not in use yet!

Updating accounts in Bulk:

  • The only way to do this at scale is via the Atlassian User Provisioning REST API (SCIM). If you have an identity provider like Azure AD or Okta connected via SCIM, updating the email in the IdP will automatically sync the change to the Atlassian account.
  • Otherwise you could use the User Management REST API and script the updates yourself, which requires org admin rights.
