Create and edit whiteboards without leaving Jira

Hello Atlassian Community! đź‘‹

My name is Shalu, and I’m a principal product manager on the Confluence team. Last month, Atlassian announced the launch of Confluence whiteboards and the exclusive integrations between Confluence and Jira that makes it easier to update, organize, and collaborate on Jira issues within the flexibility of a whiteboard.

Today, I’m excited to announce that we’ve begun rolling out even more updates to the Jira and Confluence whiteboards integration, including 1) the ability to automatically generate a retrospective whiteboard after sprint closure and 2) the ability to create, edit, and view Confluence whiteboards without leaving Jira issues!

Generate a whiteboard retrospective at sprint closure

Before, in Jira you could create a Confluence retrospective page using our Retrospective Template, when you complete a sprint in Jira. Now, when you select the “Create a retrospective page for this sprint“ box you’ll have the option to generate a whiteboard to conduct your retros! These retrospectives are also automatically linked to each sprint’s sprint burndown chart under the Reports page, making it easier to view insights from the sprint when your team is ready to run the retrospective.

Last December, we announced a new “Create” button in Jira issue view that allows users to create a new Confluence page and link it directly to an issue—without leaving Jira! Now, when you select the “Create” button users will begin to see both “whiteboard” and “page” as create options. Also, any whiteboard linked to an issue will be editable in a pop-up modal that brings the rich Confluence editor directly into Jira.

Confluence is committed to help developers reduce context switching and keep them in the flow of work, including when they need to create a whiteboard. Say goodbye to juggling multiple tools and say hello to a seamless, connected workflow. Introduce Confluence’s whiteboards to your teams and experience the power of whiteboards with Jira.
