Wow, the limit of lists on a board is incredibly high, I have never seen anyone come close to hitting that limit. Card limits, yes but list limits, no.
One simple solution is to archive older lists, the archived list limits is far higher than active lists.

For lists it is:
Active: 475
Total (Archived and Active): 2850
