Why can't I move an open card?

Why can't I move an open card? Why does the open card block everything behind it? and doesn't move? Sometimes I need to see the other cards for reference but everything is obscured by the open card.

@Sean_O_Connor you can move an open card in two ways:

1) Using the list menu at the top of the card:

2) Using the < and > keyboard shortcuts (these work when viewing the card back or hovering over the front of the card), you can read more about Trello keyboard shortcuts here:

If you realize, on every card opened in Trello, the URL in the URL bar changes. This means that the card modal is on a different URL(page), the modal has a modal overlay which is transparent letting you see the whole board, but they are not on the same page.
Closing the card modal also takes you back to the previous page in this case the board
