Message implies that I need a new account? I'll have seven days to test the functionality on one card? Not a new user -- multiple boards, multiple users, years of use ,and other power ups.

Yes, the vendor of this app is requiring you to create an account with them.
That account will have nothing to do with the rest of your Trello stuff, it is only for the use of that one app. If you don't want to have another account somewhere else, then do not create it, and remove the add-on from Trello.
