Tagging checklist items?

I'm looking to create numerous checklists within a card that could easily be searchable like so:

card: clothing

checklist: pants

checklist pants item: slacks 

I want to tag "slacks" with a store like Target. and do this for all checklist items so that I can easily find all checklist items in this card with the tag of "Target"

Then I'd like to go to Target and shop for that custom list.

Labels only allows labeling each card, but I have 100 checklist items and rather not turn them into 100 cards. 

Still, this doesn't seem like it's possible. Is there a better way?

Hi Jessie,

It currently isn't possible to add a label to a checklist item, and as you've already found, what we normally recommend in these cases is to use cards instead. This also makes it easier to search for the cards and filter based on the label. 

I'll pass your feedback onto the team about this idea though!
