URGENT: ARE NEW PLATFORM UPDATES COMING FOR 2025?

Monica Dandridge

Dear Trello,

Your software has been around way too long not to have certain updates to flow with the current trends. There are many things that your customers like myself (paying), that is still trying to comprehend certain uses. I've been using Trello for over 10+ years or longer.

It has to be some upgrades in the works, that we don't need to rely on power-ups for. What is it that you're struggling with, the interface, the development team??

Can Trello (the decision makers) please advise when are your customers going to see some updates, such as changes to Card Titles, adding more advancements to different board views etc and I know a ton more. These are just the basics that we need. What is currently being implemented are not as robust, it still appears outdated.

I take my hat off to you for offering such a platform, but something has to get better within the times we are in.

You do realize that software like Notion, Clickup, are the catalyst for these options. I understand they're your competitors. But your customers like me, are seriously waiting for some major upgrades to your platform.

At this point, you should feel pretty good, you still have a lot of customers around. But many are moving to alternative options because of the lack of upgrades and efficiency for project management and other uses.

Hear your customers, because we are who you are serving.

Let us know what is coming. Is there a sneak peak? We are desperately waiting.

Thank you!

Hello, Monica

Welcome to the community.

Thanks for the feedback, we really appreciate it.

Could you please submit a formal request to our support team explaining why you need these features? While I can certainly consider it, formalizing the request will allow a support engineer to initiate a feature request on your behalf.

Thank you!

Kind Regards

Are you able to submit that for me, since you're on the team? It would be quite helpful. It's pretty much self explanatory. I appreciate your response. But the true question still remains. Are we going to see updates in 2025 with Trello's platform?

Thank you for your time in advance!

Hello, Monica

Happy new year.

Sorry for the wait, I can create a feature request under your name for certain updates that you want to see, just need you to describe exactly what you want to see and if possible for what reason as well.

You mentioned

These are just the basics that we need. What is currently being implemented are not as robust, it still appears outdated.

You can learn more about this by reading our Implementation of New Features Policy: New Features Policy.

So I take it that you were making sure I truly respond with the exact information. Well, let's give it a shot.

Well to lighten your load, the following that I can think of at the moment. It would be nice to see:

1. If we can bold print on the face of the cards in Trello

2. Updated editor just like this one, because its not like this one in the forum at all.

3. A way to form a list automatically from the Cards we put in a list, to add inside the editor. (I know it can be done the other way around). But I'm speaking on this way.

4. Making spacing with text on front of Cards, basically edit the front of the cards.

5. Enhance the Automations to be more clearly understood with modern wording and moving parts.

6. Add a way to create documents from Trello of some kind, as like showing open view to type in document style page (similar to Notion)

7. Upgrade the custom fields features to more modern approach. I know its a paid feature and that's why I do pay for it. But it needs an overhaul.

Technically speaking, the software needs an overhaul. Point, blank and period!., Right? YES!

That's all I can think of at this very moment. But I truly believe these are intermediate edits that can be implemented. These would be a GAME CHANGER!

Your customers will truly Thank you. I have introduced so many people to Trello. I had no idea some folks still don't know you exist. However to get them onboard, these features will help do it. And also genuinely help your current customer base like me.

Please let me know if these can be done. I know an immediate answer may not happen this quickly. But us Trello users needs some relief. You guys rock but we need more advanced techniques.

I will be watching these responses until someone gets back to me on all 7 of these ideas.

Thanks,

Monica D.

Have a blessed one!

Hello, Monica

  1. If we can bold print on the face of the cards in Trello

There is currently an open feature request for implementing a way to format card titles. You can follow the progress of this request at the following link: Trello Feature Request.

  2. Updated editor just like this one, because it's not like this one in the forum at all.

Trello underwent updates to its editor last year. You can engage in the discussion and share your thoughts on this topic here: New Editor in Trello. However, it may be some time before we see further changes.

  3. A way to form a list automatically from the Cards we put in a list, to add inside the editor. (I know it can be done the other way around). But I'm speaking on this way.

I’m not entirely sure I understand this suggestion. When you create a board, you typically add cards  to a list. Could you provide more details on what you're envisioning with this feature?

  4. Making spacing with text on front of Cards, basically edit the front of the cards.

If I understand correctly, you're looking for the ability to use spacing and have more flexibility in formatting the text on card titles. This request aligns with the existing feature request as well: Trello Feature Request.

  5. Enhance the Automations to be more clearly understood with modern wording and moving parts.

Automations can indeed be complex. Have you checked our instructional page for guidance? Trello Automation Overview. Additionally, I recommend exploring educational resources like the YouTube channel Britt Joiner for more insights.

  6. Add a way to create documents from Trello of some kind, as like showing open view to type in document style page (similar to Notion).

I'm not familiar with all of Notion's features, but are you looking to export Trello content in a document format? If so, we offer several export options that you can explore here: Exporting Data from Trello

  7. Upgrade the custom fields features to a more modern approach. I know it's a paid feature and that's why I do pay for it. But it needs an overhaul.

Thank you for your suggestion! We are continually striving to enhance productivity, and modernizing this feature could be considered for future updates. We appreciate your input and support!

Kind Regards

Thanks for responding. Some of those options that you have linked me to, I've already explored those which did not answer my question or provide any additional insight; which is the reason I came here.

I would patiently wait for updates as they happen. Thanks for your time!
